"Basically, these are kids who are expelled from local K-12s for behavior," said Bob Brenner, superintendent of the Allegan County Intermediate School District."The idea is to get them straightened out and back in the local schools within a year or two."
Classes offered would include appropriate behavior and aggression management.Health and recreation are also part of the curriculum.
Named Outlook Academy, the school would open in the former Seventh-Day Adventist school on M-40 about a mile south of Allegan.

"Kids with behavioral problems misbehave in the afternoon," Brenner said."When they get home, their parents will be there to watch over them."
The school is the result of a partnership between the court system, Allegan County Intermediate School District, the Family Independence Agency and local schools.
The school has a budget of $225,000 for its first year of operation and is expected to accept 15 to 20 students.
