Co-owner Leslie Brenner runs a monthly event called "Women & Their Power Tools" which features various female performers playing sets based on a particular theme such as the Halloween 'Witches, Bitches and Itches' and the May "Things Our Mothers Told Us".Another monthly showcase, Wendie Colter's "Third Thursday", serves up acoustic versions of some of L.A.'s most pop oriented bands playing short sets and singing each others' songs.Any night of the week, you can hear an eclectic mix of musical styles on the HGs' stage and the cover is always low.
Co-owners Rich and Leslie Brenner, have started a new record label with some of the same wide ranging tastes that their club reflects.Along with the help of long time friend and HG patron, Bill Carlton, whose 25 years in the music business gives them the experience they needed, Rich and Leslie created Highland Sounds.

Leslie explains, "Record labels can't afford to invest in developing artists the way they used to because it's not a money making situation for them.

Leslie has picked twelve women who will be on the CD, each one with a song relating to a month, which coincides with the year 2000 calendar that will be included with the CD.
