Jeffrey Brenner
According to Brenner, background investigations need to focus not only on the individual but also the entity, and need to be started early: "You can't come to an investigative firm and say, with one week to go, 'I need a background check done.We just have to put it in the file.' That's not true. You can't just put it in the file.We don't know what we're going to find when we start looking. At the end of the day, you're not going to have enough time to analyze all the information within a week's time. You have to start earlier, otherwise the information that you're going to get is really going to go into a file and you cross your fingers that you didn't miss something, or you're going blame the investigator."Brenner recommended conducting searches annually or semi-annually to find things that may have occurred since the initiation investigation.
