   Shortly after the Ratoath goal, the Referee blew the final whistle, sparking a wave of celebrations around Sean Eiffe Park, as Ratoath Captain, Paul Kirwin was presented with the Leinster Junior Cup by Nicky Brennan, President of Leinster Council.

   And Kilkenny man , Nickey Brennan will be to the fore in the bid to turn the national game into an international one.
   
   At the GAA annual Congress at the week-end , Mr. Brennan stepped down as chairman of the National Communications and Technology Work Group after the statutory three year term.
   
   And he was immediately appointed chairman of the high powered National Hurling Development Committee ( NHDC ) by new President , Sean McCague ( Monaghan ) .
   
   The NHDC was responsible for the introducion of the hugely successful ‘back door' system.

   We will look at all possibilities of extending hurling outside Ireland , Mr. Brennan told the People.
   
   It was easier to get an outlet for football , he confessed. But we will try and forge links with other like games in other countries.
   
   There are opportunities there , he insisted. It would be good to see the hurlers get a chance of representing their country just like the footballers".
   
   The GAA did forge links between hurling and shinty in Scotland , but that was never embraced with any real enthusiasm by the players here.
