Loveland resident Matt Brennan has cancelled plans to climb Mt. Everest in March, 2005.Brennan is the founder of the Cincinnati Center for Autism and the father of a child with autism. He was planning on climbing Everest this spring with lifelong friend Andy Politz, a veteran Everest climber, to raise money for the Center and to increase awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).Citing personal reasons, Brennan commented, "My family has a lot going on right now and I do not believe that leaving them for three months is beneficial to their well being. My son is close to a breakthrough with his therapy and my wife needs my support now more than ever.I have been gone for the past three years climbing mountains.I need to be home to support my wife who deals with ASD everyday. This was a difficult decision to make (canceling the trip) but my commitment to my family is more important than the summit of Mt. Everest and I have received tremendous support from my family, friends and sponsors for making the right choice".
Brennan did not rule out a trip to Everest in the near future.

Matt Brennan, owner of Loveland Excavating Co. and the Brennan Group, will be part of a four-man climbing team that attempts a spring 2005 ascent in order to raise money for causes related to autism.
"There's probably a year's worth of training, so we're starting now," said Brennan, who has summited several other of the world's highest peaks, including Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa."We're physically training now and will have climbing training in July at Mount Rainier (in Washington state). And in January we'll be doing climbing training on Mount Aconcagua in Argentina."
Brennan and his team have secured sponsorship from www.everestnews.com, which will provide media relations assistance as well as some money. They also have landed Groundwear as the clothing/gear sponsor, which Brennan said is probably worth $10,000 to $15,000.
Brennan said the team is in negotiations for financial sponsorship from several national companies with local operations and is seeking other sponsorships, particularly among local companies.
