At Sonitrol security company in Fresno, general manager Matt Brennan said his company installed digital surveillance cameras this year at three Madera schools, including Mountain Vista. There are six to eight cameras per campus that show color in daylight and switch to black and white for greater "low light" detail at night.
School officials can detect loitering from a central command post; students can be identified by their clothing.
The cameras proved vital Thursday in finding the source of the gunshots and making an arrest within two hours.
