'I FEEL I CAN TRULY SUCCEED': Kaitlyn Brennan, a second-year student at Middlesex Community College in Lowell, is looking forward to continuing her education at UMass Lowell next year.
...
But Brennan, poised on the brink of attending UMass Lowell next year, never once regretted going to Middlesex. She says it's probably the best decision she's ever made.
She took different classes and figured out where her interests lie, she regained her academic footing after being out of school for a short period, and she is now ready to face the challenges of completing her bachelor's degree.
"When you're in high school, and you have people saying, 'What school are you going to go to?' it's very stressful for someone who's 17, 18 years old and doesn't know what they want to do," she said. "Like my parents said, Why go to a school, blow all your money away, and then say I'm stuck here with nothing to show for it?"
"I feel confident now to go to UMass and I feel I can truly succeed at what I want to do," said Brennan, who is pursuing a degree in communications.
The Middlesex student is one of thousands across the state who choose to finish their education at a four-year school after spending their first two years at a community college.
