Joe Brennan, Courier's Vice President of Engineering, is in charge of the project and couldn't be happier with the work that's been done."It's been a very productive few months," says Joe, "with Courier engineers and plant personnel working closely with the MAN Roland crew to bring this installation in ahead of schedule."

"As far as we know, we are the first book manufacturer to install a four-page, six-around Lithoman," says Joe Brennan, Courier's vice president of engineering."The press had many appealing characteristics: technology, reliability, durable construction, and MAN Roland's service organization.As a book manufacturer, we like large-format production because we want to produce as many pages as possible with maximum throughput."

Automation benefits booksBrennan says other features made the press appealing.Its automatic plate loading technology allows quick and easy job changeover, and closed-loop controls provide color consistency across a wide plate.Automation on the front-end provides faster job throughput while the press's palletizing allows operators to easily handle the huge output of signatures with no heavy lifting.

"Everything on this size press makes it more efficient and more practical," adds Brennan.
