   Bienvenu's background is an impressive one, beginning as feature writer for The Times-Picayune in New Orleans after college, then moving on to landmark New Orleans restaurant Commander's Palace under the tutelage of Ella Brennan. She has excelled in many capacities: researcher, editor, catering director, consultant, and in public relations for such famous restaurants as Commander's, K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen in New Orleans, and Brennan's of Houston. From 1981-1984, she owned and operated her own restaurant, Chez Marcelle, near Lafayette. Since that time, she has written a weekly food column, Cooking Creole, for The Times-Picayune, and currently is working on a special project for the McIlhenny Co., makers of Tabasco pepper sauce.
