   The court was told that Edward Brennan (28), 16 Beechpark, Renmore, Galway, a final year arts student at NUI, Galway, had been at a party and was on his way home when he stopped off at the Spanish Arch to meet up with friends.
   
   He was highly intoxicated at the time and gardai were called to the Arch having received a report that a number of people were intoxicated in the area. Brennan, who had been out celebrating the end of his exams, was arrested for his own safety.
   
   He apologised for his behaviour on the night and told the court people regularly congregated at the Spanish Arch. He said he had not been drinking there but had arranged to meet friends on his way home.
