A resident of Proctor for 61 years , Mr. Brenna was born in Eden Township , Gully , Minn.. He married Joyce Emberg in Proctor Sept. 8 , 1948. He was employed as a machinist with the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway for 32 years , retiring in 1972. Following his retirement , he operated Brenna's Home Repair for many years. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II , serving as a ball turret gunner on a B-17. He completed 25 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Oak Leaf Clusters. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Proctor , the International Association of Machinists , Proctor American Legion , Proctor Area Historical Society , DM&IR Veterans Association , the Eighth Air Force Historical Society and the 96th Bomb Group.
He was preceded in death by his four brothers and a sister and his great-grandson Jack Swanson who died in January.
Survivors include his wife Joyce , daughters Kristine Lyons of Moose Lake and Kathy Wolffe of Knife River , a son David ( Chris ) Brenna of Proctor , sisters Inez ( Andrew ) Gordon of Klamath Falls , Ore. , Gladys ( Philip ) Megordon of Palm Beach , Fla. , and Vivian ( Halvor ) Rijke of Gully , Minn. , grandchildren Chad ( Becky ) Brenna , Nicole ( Matt ) Swanson , Becky and Adam Wolffe , great-grandchildren Jessica Taylor , Ian Swanson and Cole Brenna.
Service was held Monday in Immanuel Lutheran Church , Proctor , the Rev. Mark Osthus officiating. -

Marvin O. Brenna , 81 , of Duluth died Friday , March 3 , 2000 , in his home.
Visitation was Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bell Brothers Chapel. Services were Monday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Proctor , with the Rev. Mark Osthus officiating. Interment was in Oneota Cemetery.
