   Abram Adam Breneman was the third editor of JACS and served from 1884-1892. He graduated from Pennsylvania State College in 1866 and was the first editor to be educated entirely in the United States. Dr. Breneman is credited with instilling the idea that the American Chemical Society should be a national organization and with seeing the Journal through its bleakest time to growth and prosperity.
