BRENDER ADDED TO NHRA COMMUNICATIONS STAFF
(2-12-2004) - Rob Brender has been named media relations manager for the NHRA, it was announced today by NHRA Director of Media Relations Anthony Vestal.

Brender, 26, comes to the NHRA with a wealth of minor league baseball experience. He was the media relations coordinator and radio broadcaster for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes the past two years. He spent a year in a very similar capacity with the Pioneer League's Billings Mustangs and also worked for the double-A Akron Aeros for two seasons.

A native of Closter, N.J., Brender graduated from the University of Akron in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in mass media communications and spent one year working as a production assistant at MSNBC television prior to entering minor league baseball.
"I am excited and looking forward to working with such a wonderful and knowledgeable staff here at the NHRA," Brender said. "It is my goal to aid in the continued success and growth of the NHRA and the sport of drag racing and become an established member of this organization."
In his new position, Brender will provide national event media relations support for the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series and NHRA Summit Sport Compact Series as well as for other NHRA racing programs. In addition, he will help write press releases, maintain relationships with national media outlets and contribute to the NHRA media guide and other NHRA Communications Department publications.
