Ryan Bremner
...
The Williams Lake TimberWolves are pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Bremner as the club's new assistant coach. Bremner further solidifies the TimberWolves coaching staff for the coming season. Bremner is a Williams Lake native who played through the Bantam level in the Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association. Bremner was listed by the Western Hockey League's Prince George Cougars out of Bantam, but decided to pursue the NCAA college route. Ryan Bremner joined the Notre Dame Hounds program in Wilcox, Saskatchewan after Bantam in 1996 and stayed at Notre Dame for two seasons before heading back to British Columbia to continue on the NCAA path with the BCHL's Penticton Panthers in 1998. Bremner played the 1998-99 season with the Panthers before being traded to the Quesnel Millionaires prior to the start of the 1999-2000 season where he would be chosen as a league all-star in his first year with the Mills and team captain the next year. Ryan Bremner was able to secure an NCAA Division 1 scholarship with Sacred Heart University of the Atlantic Hockey Conference and finished his four years of schooling with a degree in psychology and is currently in the process of completing his education certificate. "As an alumni player of the BCHL, I am thrilled to be joining the TimberWolves as an assistant coach," says Bremner. -

Signed, sealed and delivered, Ryan Bremner will be the new Assistant Coach for the Williams Lake TimberWolves.
...
Bremner is no stranger to Williams Lake ice, finishing all of his Minor Hockey her in the puddle up to Bantam AAA before heading to Notre Dame to continue his hockey while completing his high school diploma. He came back to B.C. as a rookie for the Penticton Panthers and finished the 1998-99 season before being traded to the Quesnel Millionaires. He finished his first season with the Mills as the league All Star and was named team captain for his second season with the team. He signed a NCAA Division 1 scholarship to Sacred Heart University of the Atlantic Hockey Conference and finished his four-year degree in psychology, which he says will definitely be a tool when he is relating to the players. He is currently in the process of completing his teaching certificate and says he would like to start at the elementary teaching level. The 25 year-old says he is excited to be working with Carpenter and as a rookie coach, will learn a lot from his experience. Bremner says the two of them are going to be working on getting the enjoyment and spirit back into the team as well as the community. "We need to get back on the winning track," says Bremner speaking as a fan and a player as well as an assistant coach. "The support from the community in the arena has a huge impact on the players." He says they will be getting the players back into the local schools and doing community activities to bond with the fans. He says that with new coaching there will be new systems and new direction. "We need to redirect the focus and the rest will fall into place," he says. "We will have new players and we need to regroup. As a group we can achieve more." Since joining the Pack, Bremner has been on the road with Carpenter scouting out new players for the TimberWolves roster. He will be heading to Edmonton for the Alberta Showcase and will be recruiting there while Carpenter heads back to the Lower Mainland to check out new players. He says that there are some written deals in the process, and that they are currently in negotiations for players. "We are looking at a younger team this year," says Bremner. "There will still be 19 and 20 years olds though for the experience they can offer the younger players. We want a hard working team; tough, physical and fast." He also says that this will be rebuilding year, they are definitely hoping to make the playoffs, but they will also be working on getting the community support back. As for his parents Arnold and Imke Bremner (owners of the TimberWolves) influence on 'landing the job,' Bremner says that he is fully qualified for the job. "I am an Alumni of the BCHL," he explains. "The position came available and I was qualified for the job. My parents are supportive, but it doesn't mean I got the job because of that. I have got through my hockey levels because of talent and I got a 'C' on my jersey (in Quesnel) because of my talent, not because of my parents." Bremner says that he is hoping that the fans in Williams Lake will get back on board with the Pack and help them turn things around. "It's great when the team is doing good," says Bremner. "People have to understand that there are going to be rough spots, but we have to pull through. With the new changes hopefully it will encourage people to come back." Bremner says that he's excited about the opportunity to be a different type of leader for a hockey team. "It has always been my dream to take a team from brand new to the championship level," he says. "It's just as exciting as a rookie assistant coach. I didn't think that I would have this kind of opportunity right here in my home town." Bremner will also be helping out with training, conditioning, studying, and anything that he can do to help the players further their educations.
