Kimberly Branch was always striving for something more.

"I've always been an entrepreneur since I was a little girl; I was always doing something to make money," Branch said.

In elementary school, Kimberly Branch would gather up all of her toys and charge the neighborhood kids 10 to 25 cents to play with them.

In college, Branch found a passion for computers and realized the various opportunities they could provide. She expanded her skills by taking various computer classes. She also worked in the computer lab and provided tech support to other students.

Today, Branch is the CEO of Bit by Bit Computer Training Inc., a company she founded about seven years ago.

Branch, a Baltimore native, was off and on social services for about 12 years and was a resident of Baltimore Public Housing for about five years.

"I took advantage of the different opportunities to make a change in my situation," she said. Now Branch gives back to her community by helping others make a change in their situations. One of the main tools she uses to do that is the Beehive.

"The perfect thing to take advantage of is the Beehive," Branch said."I tell people it's just the best thing walking."

Branch was first introduced to the Beehive a couple years ago when she was working with the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) and One Economy for the Digital Access Fund.Branch helped families set up computers and provided computer training using the Beehive.

She regularly provides computer training in HABC's labs and uses the Beehive with her clients. Some of the sections and tools she uses are Homework Help, how to write a check and the Entrepreneur's Center. She even develops projects and scavenger hunts on the site to help her youth and adult clients get to know the site better.

Even her two daughters use the Beehive regularly.

"If they come home and say that they don't have homework, I just say, ‘Wait, I've got something for you,'" Branch said. Then she'll pull up the Homework Help section and find activities for her kids to work on.

Using technology to help others is the most rewarding part of her business, Branch said.

"Kimberly had a rough childhood and instead of getting caught up in that and letting that break her down, she strived for more," said Nichelle Johnson, Branch's business partner and friend.
