Kano Branch

Kano, between 1986-1988, where he served as the Assistant General Manager; He also served in that capacity with the Bank of the North from 1988 to 1991.He joined Savannah Bank of Nigeria PLC in 1991 and rose to the position of Deputy General Manager before leaving in 1996 to become the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Director of AFIMS Limited and later the Abuja Resident Partner of Messrs Ma'ajii and co (Chartered Accountants) with effect from December 2003.

He was conferred with the degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) Honoris Causa at the maiden convocation of Kogi State University, Anyigba in March, 2005.He is a member/Fellow of the following professional bodies:

Central Bank of Nigeria, Kano Branch:In 1962,the first Central Bank Branch was established in Kano and opened for business in the same year.This brought to 2, the number of Central Bank offices in Nigeria at that time.

Promoted Assistant Director and Branch Controller, Port Harcourt, 1977, and Kano in 1978.Rose to the position of Head of Organisations (CBN) in 1980.Assistant Director (Banking Supervision Department), 1982; and subsequently promoted Deputy Director in 1985.By 1987 he was elevated to the position of a Director (Chief Bank Examiner) responsible for the establishment of deposit protection scheme in Nigeria.This position he held until his appointment as the pioneer Managing Director/Chief Executive of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation in 1989, where he served for two terms of 10 years with commendation from the Federal Government.By the time he retired in 1999, he had built up the Corporation into a colossus of a supervisory authority.
