Executive Director Kristyne Bradford said the amount raised probably will go up as money from different fund-raisers continues to trickle in.She said the amount reported is based on the money in hand.
"So there won't necessarily be across the board funding cuts," Bradford said.
This year's campaign was from July 10, 2003, to Jan. 14.The money raised will support 39 programs at 24 partner agencies.
Those programs serve nearly 40,000 people in Knox County, which is about 73 percent of the county population.
Bradford said the organization's allocations council meets this week to discuss how the money will be distributed. She expects the allocations to be announced by the second week of April.
This year's campaign goal was $75,000 less than last year's goal.Bradford said the campaign goal each year is based on the "ups and downs of the local economy."

"all the while maintaining the level of giving of those who always support United Way," Bradford said.
Once United Way of Knox County is through the allocation process, the organization will focus on next year's campaign, Bradford said. She said a new chair is recruited for the campaign each year.
While there have been discussions about next year's goal, Bradford said United Way has yet to determine what it will be.
