Born into a family of engineers and scientists, Ginny Boyd has adopted scientific documentation in order to help viewers see not only the product but the process behind her work.She documents the personal dialogue between the artist and herself, exploring the spiritual and the mundane.Majoring in 3-Dl design, with an emphasis in metal work at theUniversity of North Carolina, Charlotte, Boyd is a retired 15-year veteran of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system.Boyd is a McColl Center for Visual Art Art Teacher Resource Resident Alumnus (2004), and more recently is an ArtTeach Grant Artist for a project with Park Road Montessori School.

Virginia Hanes Boyd is a visual arts teacher at West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. She received her BFA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is currently working towards an MA in Arts Education at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. While in residence, Virginia would like to create representations of the various natural voluntary and involuntary human reactions and functions in terms of an individual's physical state and how this relates to one's mental well-being. She plans to experiment with different types of printmaking techniques such as photo-etching intaglios and monotyping in her exploration of this subject matter.
