    Her son Vincent Boyd also preceded Mrs. Boyd in death.

    Mrs. Boyd graduated from Adkin High School in Kinston, N.C. and attended Fayetteville State College in Fayetteville, N.C.She was a former Head Start Teacher before being employed by the Charlottesville Public School System.She retired from Buford Middle School in 1997, where she served as an instructional assistant.

    Mrs. Boyd was a member of several social clubs including West End Silhouettes.She was also active in voter registration efforts and enjoyed working the polls until the time of her illness.She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she was a mis-sionary.

    She is survived by her devoted husband, Jake Boyd Sr.; five children, Janette B. Mar-tin, Harold F. Boyd, Lynn M. Boyd, Jake Boyd, Jr., and Evelyn B. White; two grand-daughters, Janika M. Boyd and Felicia N. Martin; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia S. Boyd; a son-in-law, Bradford I. White; a brother-in-law, James Boyd; and a host of other relatives and friends.
