Marc Bourgeois, owner of MB Tractor in Tilton, said the property belongs to his father, who wants to downsize.

Bourgeois said his father understands that he does not have the only house for sale on Winnipesaukee. "He's in no hurry. If it sells in two, three years, fine."

Bourgeois himself has a larger property on the island that is his residence. He said he pays $76,000 a year in taxes.

Bourgeois said that when he bought his home on Governor's Island, there was only an 8,000-square-foot house on the property.

He estimates his house is about 20,000 square feet now.

But with recently enacted shoreland protections, it is hard for property owners to do as much with raw land, he said.

The market for Winnipesaukee has changed dramatically in 20 years, he said. Now it is an international market.

"If they want a home on Winnipesaukee in pristine New Hampshire, in the $10 (million) to 20 million range, the guy is from England or somewhere, and he's got a couple of other homes," he said.

The most recent article written by Marc Bourgeois of MB Tractor & Equipment was filled with half-truths, lies, and insults. He is urging the citizens of Tilton to support him and his "business" by contacting the elected officials to express their outrage.I'm asking them to first seek the truth.Mr. Bourgeois was not present at the planning board meeting of December 3, 2002.The information he has regarding what was said he obtained from the minutes of that meeting.Even while referring to these minutes he is clearly misinforming the public as to the events of the meeting and many of the issues raised. In his article titled "Outrageous" one member of the board was quoted as saying "(I) don't feel that the residents would want to see the flag . . . or hear the noise it would make during windy conditions."What the minutes of the meeting actually say is "She didn't feel the residents would want to see a flag the size of their homes or hear the noise it would make during windy conditions."There were also concerns over how the flagpole would be lit. When told of the Board's concerns to local residents over the size of the flagpole in question Mr. Bourgeois's representative stated the direct abutters supported the application and they would certainly provide that in writing. When asked about the residents he stated their obligations were to the abutters.
    ...
Mr. Kahn (Mr. Bourgeois's representative) stated Mr. Bourgeois was trying to develop a brand presence.
    ...
Bourgeois was trying to draw awareness to his building, to his business."Shortly thereafter when asked if what he was saying was they were using the flag for identification and not for the purpose of flying the flag, he added "Mr.Bourgeois was drawing awareness to the flag."As for his comment concerning the arguments made by the Board as being ridiculous, outrageous, and un-American I ask you again to see for yourself what transpired at the meeting in question.I feel personally attacked by his remark of being un-American.
    ...
Mr. Bourgeois was given approval for a fifty-foot flagpole.Although he currently has six flagpoles in front of his business, all of which are visible from Route 3, non of these fly the American Flag.Instead they fly flags promoting equipment sold at his tractor dealership.I ask, "Where is his patriotism?"In an article from a newspaper dated May 4, 2004 Mr. Bourgeois was quoted saying "I'm either doing what I want or nothing."In yet another he states "If the town doesn't want a flag, I'm not putting a flag".To me this equates to a child not getting his way while playing with friends and saying, "I'm taking my toys and going home."The decision was made in good faith using our Town's ordinances as well as the State's RSA's regarding site plan approval.
