Anne Boudreau-Bellemare Rug-making Instructor.
Anne Boudreau-Bellemare is an Acadian rug-maker with a love of history and her Acadian roots. Anne moved back to Acadie (Nova Scotia) in 1992, having lived for many years in Québec. Anne bought a 100-year old farmhouse, began renovations, and renewed family ties and traditions. Through her research and activities, Anne has helped foster the rich Acadian culture.
Anne recalled her grandmother, Charlotte, making 5-strand braided rugs by the stove on winter nights, and began to collect information about the rugs from her aunts. At the age of 62, Anne began making braided rugs. Word spread, and with her sister, Anne began teaching others.
Anne completed a two-year course in Ecotourism and Entrepreneurship and continues to teach and sell rug braiding kits. Anne has taught at the Université de Ste. Anne, at the Acadian Museum in Pubnico, and at adult education classes.
