    In the effort to help pay for her dog Einie, Kaily Boudinot has another set of champions working on her behalf -- members of Alexandria Boy Scout Troop 24.

    In early March, Northridge High School students spent several weeks collecting coins to give to the Boudinot family.

    With all classes competing to see which could collect the most, the final total was $1,127.79.

    Einstein or Einie, as he has been nicknamed by Kaily, first came to be her helper dog in November.

    Raised and trained by Golden Dogs Assistance Dog Academy in Mt. Vernon, Einie accompanies Kaily, now 10 and a student at Alexandria Elementary School, everywhere.He has been trained to assist her in picking up pencils and books she drops, opening doors and any number of other tasks to help his owner, who uses a wheelchair because of cerebral palsy.

    Einie will be her companion for six to eight years.

    Kaily, he said, loves spaghetti and plans to attend so she can meet scouts and community members as well.

    Students at Northridge High School are competing to see which class can donate the most change to help buy a helper dog for Alexandria Elementary School student Kaily Boudinot.

    Kaily uses a wheelchair because of cerebral palsy.Her helper dog, Einstein, first came to class with her on Nov. 13.

    "Einie," as Kaily calls him, was purchased from and trained by the Golden Dogs Assistance Dog Academy in Mt. Vernon.

    Kaily learned the techniques of dog grooming and some commands through the Kids 'n Canines program at Walnut Springs Middle School in Westerville.Einie will be her companion for six to eight years.

    The idea behind "the change wars" at Northridge High School is to help pay the $2,600 cost for Einstein.
