Chief Boucher has in excess of 34 years of experience in law enforcement.
He started his career in 1971 providing security for then Prime Minister Trudeau. He was subsequently assigned to detachment duties in Timmins, Ontario where most of the work was on Drug enforcement. He then transferred to Montreal, Quebec and worked on anti-terrorist and counter espionage. In 1980 Chief Boucher became a Firearms Instructor at the RCMP Training Academy in Regina. After 3 years in Regina, he was assigned to Commercial Crimes in Hamilton, Ontario before returning to Regina in 1985.
He was commissioned in 1991 and assigned the responsibilities of all Human Resources in New Brunswick. In 1995 Chief Boucher was selected to represent Canada in Croatia. He was the United Nations Civilian Police Sector Chief in Knin, Croatia for 7½ months.
Upon returning to Canada he was transferred to Innisfail, Alberta as the Officer i/c Police Dog Service. In 1999 he was promoted to Superintendent and assumed the responsibilities of Deputy Director of the Canadian Police College.
Chief Boucher has attended several Universities and completed an Executive MBA program at Queens, University.
Chief Boucher accepted a position with the Medicine Hat Police Service in April 2001and he and his wife Sanja are happy to return to Alberta and live in Medicine Hat.
He is very proud of his 2 sons, Daniel and Nicholas. -
