   SCHENECTADY, NY - Union College senior men's ice hockey player Olivier Bouchard (Quebec City, QC) has been named to ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, May 24. A neuroscience major, Bouchard has concentrated in pre-medical studies. He is a Dean's List student, a three-time ECAC Hockey League All-Academic Team selection, and was named the recipient of the inaugural ECACHL Men's Student-Athlete of the Year Award in March. Bouchard was recently named Union College's Scholar Athlete of the Year, and participated in this year's Steinmetz Symposium with a presentation titled, "Characterization of leg movements associated with electrical stimulation of the wind induced escape system in the cockroach Periplaneta americana." Bouchard has served as an on-ice leader throughout his four-year career. He ranks tied for sixth place in Union's Division I history in points with 89 on 44 goals and 45 assists. He led the team in scoring in the 2005-06 season, and netted a career-high three game-winners and two overtime goals in his senior season. He founded and serves as president of the Ozone House, an environmentally-friendly on-campus residence at Union where students have reduced energy consumption by 50 percent, and helped to found U Recycle, a recycling program specifically for campus dorms. Bouchard also worked with dining services and more than a dozen local farms to co-found the Ozone Café, a once-a-week organic on-campus lunch alternative.

   Bouchard is currently ranked 182nd among North American skaters on the Central Scouting Bureau's Final Rankings. He just completed his rookie season at Union College where he led all rookies in scoring with 18 points (7 goals, 11 assists) playing in all 36 games. During the 2002-03 Season, Bouchard played for Upper Canada College where he led the team with an astounding 84 points (32 goals, 52 assists) playing in 38 games.
