   Dr. Bouabid - the fourth founding partner of DTI - has over twelve years of experience in the development of vulnerability and risk models for you use by government, utilities, insurance companies and business to support risk management decisions. Before coming to DTI, Dr. Bouabid was a Lead Engineer at Risk Management Solutions, Inc., where he developed a national reputation through his work in modeling the natural hazard impacts on lifelines (electric power, water, oil, gas, bridges, airports, and ports). Among his projects - preparation of lifeline loss estimation studies for Los Angeles, San Francisco, the Central U.S., and Japan, and the development of a prototype GIS-based Risk Loss Model (RLM) for the New Zealand government. As Director of Technical Services, Dr. Bouabid will be responsible for the development and marketing of risk assessment and risk management services for DTI's clients.

   Jawhar Bouabid, vice president of Durham Technologies of Georgia, conducted the training. He said raising the awareness of the consequences of an event can result in better planning and better response.
   
   "We can develop a comprehensive risk assessment and results survey of any given disaster, natural or manmade," Bouabid said, noting that a February 2002 earthquake on the West Coast was compared to a risk assessment done before the event, and the results from the actual earthquake "came very close to the models we developed earlier."
   
   With Project Impact funding, the town has also hired a consultant to begin work on an All Hazard Mitigation Plan (AHMP).
