   Nunzio Bottini received his degree in Medicine in 1996 from the University of Rome "Tor Vergata"; in 2000 he completed his residency in Clinical Immunology at the same University.During his residency he carried out a research project on the genetics of the low molecular weight protein tyrosine phosphatase in human immuno-mediated diseases.Since 2000 he works as post-doctoral Fellow in the Mustelin Laboratory at The Burnham Institute, La Jolla; his focus is on reversible tyrosine phosphorylation of intracellular proteins and on intracellular protein tyrosine phosphatases.Dr. Bottini's project will aim to study tyrosine phosphorylation of tuberin - an important tumor suppressor involved in the pathogenesis of Tuberous Sclerosis - and to isolate the tyrosine phosphatase(s) responsible for the dephosphorylation of tuberin.
