Albert T. Bottini of Davis died suddenly in his home on Feb. 3, 2002. He was 69.
A professor emeritus at UC Davis, he was born in San Rafael on June 13, 1932, and raised in Petaluma. He graduated from Petaluma High School in 1949, attended Santa Rosa Junior College and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1954.
He earned his Ph.D. in chemistry at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, in 1957 and joined the UCD chemistry faculty in 1958. He was retired but remained involved in research projects until his death. He was a lifetime member of the American Philatelic Society.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Bottini; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Phyllis Bottini of Hawthorn Woods, Ill., Philip and Rita Bottini of Santa Clara and John and Tanya Bottini of Framingham, Mass.; and his grandchildren, Dorothy, William, Ellen, Michael, Thomas, Joseph, Katherine and Stephen Bottini.
