   Originally trained as a Chartered Accountant, Michael Botner now devotes his time and energy to his business, Accounting for Taste, a company dedicated to de-mystifying wine and sharing the enjoyment and benefits of moderate wine use.He is the developer and former instructor for the Sommelier Program at Algonquin College, and a Co-founder and Governor of the National Capital Sommelier Guild.He was named the Wine Person of the Year by the Guild in 1996.In 2003, Michael and his wife, Rosemary, moved to Kelowna, B.C., and opened the Accounting for Taste Bed and Breakfast.
   
   Michael Botner is the wine columnist for Okanagan Life magazine.He also contributes to a number of publications, including: Okanagan Life's Annual Valley Guide, The Kelowna Daily Courier, Ottawa City Magazine, The Ottawa Sun, Wine Access, The Ottawa Citizen, Winetidings, Canadian House & Home and Canadian Living.
   
   Current wine related activitiesFor the past 15 years, Michael has offered wine courses and seminars for foreign service recruits and other individuals and groups, and "Distinctive Dinners with Wines of the World" at the Bayne-Morrison House, Ottawa's oldest home built in 1828.
   
   As a speaker, he appears on television, and conducts tastings and seminars for a variety of organizations and individual groups.He currently offers customized wine tours and wine workshops for guests of Accounting for Taste Bed and Breakfast.
   
   Michael offers advisory and training services for the hospitality industry.For over 15 years he has organized and chaired Cellars of the World, the Ottawa International Wine Competition for the Ottawa Wine and Food Show.
