It's fitting that composer-playwright Clayton Carrigan and choreographer Sandra Botnen are rehearsing their new show at this quiet, calming place off West Hastings Street, where the delicate scent of chai wafts through the air.

Botnen and Carrigan might both be comfortable discussing mudras and chakras, but an exploration of all things yogic their multidisciplinary production is not.

"The journey started in India, where I was studying devotional music," explains Carrigan, sitting on a floor cushion next to Botnen at Unlimited Yoga.

"Yoga was how I maintained myself as a performer on the road," Botnen explains."It changed how I move and how I wanted to portray movement.It affected me creatively."
Her interest in eastern spirituality led to her dabbling in Bharata Natyam, a classical form from India that she draws on in the show.Botnen describes her choreography as alternately balletic, acrobatic, sparse, and meditative.

With so many diverse elements, Carrigan and Botnen are confident the performance will appeal to people of all ages.
