"We started small", said Becky Botillo, S.C.O.R.E.'s president "with about ten agencies and have expanded to 65 at the present time." All of them were present at the festival. Monterey County Health Department's Family and Community Nutrition Programs had booths serving enchiladas, tacos de Carne Asada, soft drinks and fruit cups of strawberry, orange and grapefruit Slices. Other agencies in attendance were the Monterey County Legal Aid Society, Clinica de Salud, Planned Parenthood, Women's Rape and Crisis Center, Mee Memorial Hospital, American Cancer Society, Central Coast Alliance for Health, the California Highway Patrol, The Greenfield Police Department, Senior Citizen's Outreach, Head Start, Healthy Start, CalWorks, EDD etc. "Especially the Greenfield Police department has acted as a strong advocate to the incoming Triqui families from Oaxaca," said Botillo. G.T.O. Packing, Dominguez Farms, C.R.L.A., Radio Campesina and Wells Fargo sponsored the event. The biggest donation came from Wells Fargo who provided the organizers with a $5000 check. The organizers voiced their special thanks to the City of Greenfield for having made Patriot Park Grounds available to them. "We have not had as big a turn-out this year as in the past," Botillo said, attributing it to musical events taking place at the same time in Salinas. -
