UWA SYMPOSIUM TO CELEBRATE CAREER OF PROFESSOR BRIAN BOSWORTH
The University of Western Australia and the Institute of Advanced Studies will host a symposium next week to celebrate the work of Professor Brian Bosworth, retiring at the end of 2007 after 40 years' service at UWA.
"Professor Brian Bosworth has built an international reputation as one of the foremost scholars of Ancient History of his generation," UWA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alan Robson, said
...
"The University is justifiably proud of Professor Bosworth's contribution to scholarship over this period, particularly as it has been forged so far from any other formally constituted centre of Classics and Ancient History, and it wishes to celebrate his career in an appropriate way to mark his retirement."
Entitled: 'Conquest and Isolation', the symposium will feature a host of invited local and international speakers, whose papers will focus on the era of Alexander the Great and his successors, the period Professor Bosworth has done so much to illuminate.
Professor Bosworth will give a public lecture: ‘Anecdote and the Real Alexander' on Thursday, July 19, at 6pm, in Austin Lecture Theatre, UWA's Arts building.
