   Derek Boswell is an associate in the Real Estate practice group and a member of the firm's Business department. He joined the firm in 1997 and is resident in the Palo Alto office.
   
   Mr. Boswell presently engages in a general real estate practice , including real estate purchase and sales , leasing transactions , and secured financing. Mr. Boswell has represented a large number of start-up companies in the areas of lease negotiation and facilities acquisition.
   
   Prior to joining Cooley Godward , Mr. Boswell externed for the United States Bankruptcy Court , Northern District of California. Prior to commencing his legal career , Mr. Boswell worked at Apple Computer as a customer support specialist and at Jay Tee Supply Company as an accountant.
   
   Mr. Boswell received a law degree from The University of California , Davis School of Law in 1997 , where he was a recipient of the Moses Laskey Antitrust Award and a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. He completed his undergraduate education at California Polytechnic State University , San Luis Obispo in 1992 where he received a bachelor of science in business administration with a concentration in financial management.
   
   Mr. Boswell is a member of the State Bar of California , the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
