Executive Director Emeritus, Anne Boswell
Anne Boswell was part of the SAYL crew since signing on as a volunteer in 1987 at the insistence of her board member husband, John.When the need arose in 1990, she was hired as the Executive Director and has served in that position for 6 of the last 12 years, with time off for "good behavior" and to see her children off to college and married life.She has been program director for 2 additional years, steering the high school communications program on a steady course to success.She has a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin as well as a Master of Fine Arts with a focus in both studio art and art education.Her masters thesis was a study of art programs who used volunteer teachers in public schools.She has done research on inner city schools and education in Washington, DC, Dallas, Plano, Austin (Texas), and New York City.Outside of the office, she is a commercial artist, a veteran docent of 17 years for the McNay Art Museum, and serves on the Literacy Commission of the City of San Antonio and represents literacy issues on the Alamo Workforce Development Board.
