Alan is currently Head of Balfour Beatty's Group Internal Audit function and Group Risk Manager.He joined BICC plc (now Balfour Beatty) in 1986 as part of the head office management team.He was appointed Head of Group Audit in 1991 and from 1994 took responsibility for Risk Management and insurance for the Group.The company now focuses on engineering and construction activities worldwide.Prior to this, Alan began worked in external audit, as a Financial Accountant and Deputy Chief Auditor with various companies.He is a member of AIRMIC and the IIA, and also a founder member of the IDEA User Group and a member of the Board of Editorial and National Advisers of the if (Inside Fraud) Bulletin.

Alan Boswell heads CaerConsulting which specialises in facilitating value management and risk management workshops and provides organisations and individuals with training and support in developing their risk management capabilities.Alan is part of the University of Leeds specialist facilitation team providing value management based consultancy services to Government Agencies and major industrial organisations.Alan is a Chartered Accountant, a member of AIRMIC and the Institute of Internal Auditors.Until recently Alan was Head of Group Audit and Risk Management for the Balfour Beatty Group which focuses on engineering and construction activities worldwide.Alan has over 30 years experience ranging from external and internal audit, fraud investigation, insurance management and risk management.He is regularly called on to address conferences on these subjects and is a founder member of the IDEA (data interrogation software) User Group.Prior to his time with Balfour Beatty and its predecessor company BICC, his experiences included several financial management roles with ICI and six years with Aramco (Saudi Arabia Oil Company).
