William Oscar Boston Served 52 years in education, 33 of these as principal of First Ward Elementary School in Lake Charles. Boston established the school (later Jackson Street Elementary) in 1907. He was instrumental in having New Orleans University establish an extension in Lake Charles. W.O. Boston High School, now the Calcasieu Parish School Board's Curriculum & Training Center on Shattuck Street, was named in his honor in 1949. -

In 1949 , W.O. Boston High School was named in honor of William Oscar Boston. Boston founded First Ward Colored School , in 1907. The school merged with Lake Charles High School in 1983 and the resulting school , on the LCHS campus , was Lake Charles-Boston High.
LaGrange Senior High School is named for Mesant LaGrange. LaGrange's vision of education led him to donate land -not once , but twice- to the Calcasieu Parish School Board.
