Vivian was active in Band Patrons, inaugurating the annual Style Show to help raise money for new uniforms. She was a member of the Sistersville Emblem Club 84 and Past President's Association. Vivian was an active member of the Extension Homemakers and county council. She served many years on the Board of Directors for the Sistersville Oil and Gas Festival, sponsoring demonstrating craftsmen along with local craft persons. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sistersville and past president of the Altar Guild. She was president of the Riverfront Senior Citizens in Sistersville.
Vivian is probably best known and will be remembered for her weekly column ,The Corner Cupboard, featured in the Tyler Star News. She had many fans who have said that they buy the paper for her column because there is something for everyone.
