John W. Boston was elected, in April 2003, as Chairman of the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) Board of Directors to succeed out-going Chairman Richard J. Grossi.

Mr. Boston is retired Vice Chairman of the Board of Wisconsin Energy Corporation and Past President and Chief Operating Officer of the Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WE).He joined the NYISO Board in 1999 as Vice Chairman of the Board, and served as Chair of the NYISO Human Resources and Compensation Committee until April 2001, and Chair of the NYISO Adequacy & Reliability Committee through April 2003.
Before joining WE, Mr. Boston was Executive Vice President and Director of Power Operations at the Power Authority of the State of New York (PASNY).Mr. Boston joined WE in 1982 as Senior Vice President, and during his time with the company held various senior positions at WE, and its related businesses, retiring in July 1995.
Mr. Boston graduated from Oregon State College with a degree in electrical engineering and has served as a member in various organizations related to the power and energy sectors including the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) CEO Policy Committee on Energy Resources, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Research Advisory Committee, and the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies (AEIC) Committee on Power Generation.He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mid-American Interconnected Network and was Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC).
Mr. Boston has been an active participant in community organizations.He is past Chairman of the Board of Directors and past Council President of the Boy Scouts of America, Milwaukee County Council, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Skylight Opera Theater Corp., and has served on the Milwaukee School of Engineering Board of Regents.He is also past Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for St. Luke,s Medical Center, Inc.
