"The key is to get the kids hooked on learning," Principal Brian Boston said."To do that, we have to make it meaningful and interesting to them.You do not have to be in a classroom to learn.There are other ways."

And Boston can prove it.Fourteen-year-old Adam John hated school when he was in a traditional setting.But now he is thriving, and he says it is because he is "free to study what I want."

The current project is extensive research on Adolf Hitler and his role in World War II.John has converted the knowledge he gains from reading books into a program that works a lot like a Web site.His incorporates the traditional subject of social studies, but John also is studying English, computer technology and community service.
