May 13, 2003 - Kent State wide receiver joins the Big Blue.

WINNIPEG, MB - Joshua Bostick - a college wide receiver with size, speed and good hands - is the latest acquisition of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Blue Bombers signed the product out of Kent State University today. Bostick (6-2, 197, Kent State '02, DOB: July 23, 1980 in Jeannette, PA) comes to the Big Blue with the hopes of cracking the CFL's top receiving corps.

THE COLLEGE YEARS - KENT STATE GOLDEN FLASHES

Bostick was a leader on and off the field for the Golden Flashes during his four years at the school. A captain in his final year at Kent State, Bostick won the Laing Kennedy Award as the team's Most Inspirational Player. That marked the second-straight season he won the honor.

Bostick, a human movement major, showed major moves during his four years of football.

As a senior in 2002, he appeared in eight games and made 16 catches for 236 yards (14.8-yard average) and one touchdown. As a junior, he placed 3rd on the squad in receiving with 21 receptions for 214 yards. His highlights that year included a 44-yard touchdown reception against Bucknell.

Bostick missed the 2000 season with a knee injury. He made 19 catches for 238 yards as a sophomore in 1999 and another seven receptions for 71 yards as a freshman in 1998.

Bostick was a prep school phenom at West Mifflin Area High School in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. He was a two-time All-Conference First-Team All-Star and an All-District First-Team All-Star as a senior.

Street & Smith Magazine named Bostick to its Pre-Season All-American squad in 1997. He was an Associated Press Third-Team All-State performer as a senior. He earned a spot on Pennsylvania's Top Blue Chips Report.

His school's Most Valuable Player in his final high-school season, Bostick played in the prestigious Pennsylvania Big-33 Game and the Foothill Classic All-Star Game - both contests for graduating all-stars.

    He was a two-time member of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Fabulous 22 and First-Team Big-8 All-Conference sides. He was also a two-time Daily News First-Team All-District selection.

Bostick played basketball at West Mifflin, earning two selections to the All-Conference and All-District First-Teams. As he had in football, Bostick was his basketball team's Most Valuable Player.
