The Local Organising Committee would like to honour these masters by inviting you to an Evening Organ Concert performed by a talented Hungarian colleague, Professor János Borvendég.
Venue: St Stephen's Basilica
János Borvendég was born in Budapest and graduated as an MD from the Semmelweis Medical School , Budapest.He started his career as an internist and researcher at the University Hospital Szeged, Hungarian Academy of Science.From 1970-82 he was the Head of the Medical Dpt. of the Institute of Drug Research (Budapest).In 1982 he was appointed the Head of the Biomedical Division of the National Institute of Pharmacy (Hungarian Drug Regulatory Agency), and in 1991 became the Medical Deputy Director General of the Institute.In 2002 he was appointed as the Chief scientific counsellor of the same Institute.
He has been a member of the CHMP (EMEA-London) since 1st May 2004.He is currently a Professor at the Semmelweis University Budapest, and Kossuth Lajos University, Debrecen and lectures on pharmacology/clinicopharmacology.He is a specialist in internal medicine and in clinicopharmacology.He is member of various scientific organisations, and is a member of the board of the Hungarian Pharmacological and Clinicopharmacologycal Society.He is the main editor of the Hungarian Drug Bulletin ("Gyógyszereink"), is the author/co-author of 60 publications, several scientific books and is the main editor of the Hungarian Drug Compendium.
He began to play the organ when he was only eleven.He began his musical education as a guest at the Bartók musical conservatoir and later became a student of the Budapest Musical School.

János Borvendég was a church organist for several years.He still gives concerts regularly across the country, in Budapest and also abroad.His favourite composers are J. S. Bach and the French, German and Hungarian romantic authors.
