    Bob Borochoff

    President and CEO
    ...
Bob Borochoff is an established leader in the food and beverage industry. ver the past 25 years, his restaurants, special events, and catering ventures have been called upon by numerous organizations, large corporations and political leaders throughout Texas to provide outstanding food and beverage, entertainment and logistical arrangements for their major events. Borochoff currently serves as President and CEO of the Caf Adobe restaurants, owned and managed by the Borochoff Group, Inc.

Borochoff is a leading member of the Greater Houston, Texas and NationalRestaurant Associations. He has served as president of the Greater Houston Restaurant Association twice and as chair of the Government Affairs Committee since 1985. He was voted "Restaurateur of the Year" by that organization in 1987. Borochoff was a Board Member of the Texas Restaurant Association for 19 years, chairing the TRA's 1992 convention. He was appointed in 1988 to the National Restaurant Association's Board of Directors, where he served as National Chairman of Government Relations in 1997 and Vice Chair of the Association's Political Action Committee, after serving on that committee for 9 years, and currently serves as Director Emeritus. He was a finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year contest sponsored by Arthur Young Entrepreneurial Services and Inc. Magazine.

Giving back to the community, Borochoff serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Mental Health/Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County, appointed by the Harris County Commissioners Court. He was selected to chair MHMRA's newly-formed Public Education Committee, where he has helped establish relationships with local, state and national elected officials. Borochoff has been a leader at the inception of many political initiatives nationally and locally. In the early 1990s, he was recruited by Richard Weekley to be part of the Texans for Lawsuit Reform's initial seven-person steering committee. In 1998, he founded and co-chaired Save Houston Jobs, a coalition of restaurants, retailers and other businesses and later worked to fight a minimum wage ballot initiation. Although expected to pass easily, the group defeated the initiative by more than a two thirds margin. Borochoff has also been an active national leader on the issue of immigration on the behalf of the restaurant industry for two decades.
    ...
Borochoff has a good working relationship with all of the members on both sides of the aisle of the Texas state legislative and Congressional delegations.

Borochoff began his hospitality career as a youngster in California and hasnever strayed from his chosen field. When he moved to Houston in 1974,Borochoff managed several restaurants for a chain of steak houses and was directly responsible for the return to profitability of two of their restaurant properties. In 1979, at the age of 23, Borochoff joined Federated Department Stores at Foley's as Division Manager.

Borochoff formed EPIC Restaurants, Inc. in 1984 and owned more than adozen successful restaurants, including The Boston Sea Party, Dave's Food and Beverage in The Woodlands, Ivan's, The Back Bay, The Cape Club,Jambalaya's and Cafe Juarez.

In 1987, EPIC founded a Special Event Division that created the famous Party On the Plaza in downtown Houston. By 1983, EPIC was one of the largest producers of outdoor events and concerts in Texas. In 1990, Borochoff was called upon by the City of Galveston to manage its Mardi Gras Celebration for more than 400,000 attendees. He sold that business in 1994 to Pace concerts.

Called by some as a "visionary" in his field, Borochoff has been instrumental in developing the concept "Celebrating While Educating. From 1994 to 2002, under Borochoff's leadership, EPIC focused on producing events that also served needed functions in the community. The highly successful "Funday in the PARK", which brought free games, rides and entertainment to Houston's poor inner city neighborhoods, 'Funday North Carolina", a similar program in that state, and "FirstDay of the Future", a highly successful welfare-to-work program, are his own invention and received many accolades and awards. In one of its most important projects, EPIC was called upon by the City of Houston and Harris County to encourage citizens to participate in Census 2000. Houston went from being the most undercounted major city in the 1990 Census to being praised as a "Shining Star" by the Director of the Census Bureau in 2000. On July 24, 2000, Borochoff received a "Congressional Recognition of Outstanding Public Service" for his efforts.

Though he has made his mark as a restaurateur, Borochoff considers himself business and management oriented first and food-oriented second. He founded The Borochoff Group, Inc. as a vehicle to provide a service to the industry and to purchase restaurants for investment and growth. Since March 2006, The Borochoff Group has become an equal partner to the other largest shareholder of the iconic restaurant chain "Caf Adobe," and manages all business operations. Caf Adobe is a four-unit Houston-based Tex-Mex family restaurant group, with imminent expansion plans. Today, as Chairman and CEO of The Borochoff Group, Inc., a consulting company, he provides a myriad of services to the industry, including marketing strategy development, concept design, management, and operational services. He also holds a real estate license and consults in sale and purchase of commercial properties.

Calling Houston his home since 1974, Bob is the proud father of a 22 year old son and 19 year old twins.
