UNEP consultant Monica Borobia taught in a seminar in Curitiba, Brazil, November 25-30, 2002.The event was co-organized by UNEP and the UNESCO Chair on Tourism and Culture from Sorbonne's University Paris 1, to train 50 university instructors on sustainable hotel management, based on UNEP's publication "Sowing the Seeds of Change: an Environmental Training Pack for Hotels".The book, published by UNEP and the International Hotel & Restaurant Association, is now part of a UNEP/Sorbonne project to disseminate technical reference books soon to be published by UNEP on renewable energies, waste management, EMS and manuals for local authorities in tourism destinations.Starting in Brazil, the project also targets China, Russia and other growing tourism destinations in developing countries.
