    Come hear Dr. Kenneth-Roy Bonin, Founding Director of the University of Ottawa's new School of Information Studies speak on the development, orientation, and future of the new program.

    Dr. Bonin, an experienced information professional and former President of University of Sudbury, joined the University of Ottawa in 2007 to head the new School. The decision to create the School must be considered as potentially of great benefit to the archival community of Eastern Ontario, and is welcomed by all those interested in the field of Information Studies.

    We invite you all to come hear Dr. Bonin, who be speaking at 7:30pm in Room B163 in the School's new facilities at 200 Lees Avenue in Ottawa (the building formerly part of Algonquin College).

Bonin comprennent notamment l'administration organisationnelle et l'évaluation des programmes scolaires.Ses contributions à divers groupes et organismes communautaires, professionnels et universitaires lui ont mérité plusieurs reconnaissances telle sa nomination à titre de membre à vie de la Société canadienne pour l'étude de l'enseignement supérieur.Monsieur Bonin a commencé sa carrière comme bibliothécaire-enseignant après avoir obtenu un baccalauréat ès arts et un baccalauréat en éducation.Titulaire d'une maîtrise en histoire et d'une autre en sciences de l'information, il a ensuite effectué un séjour à la Bibliothèque publique de Winnipeg avant d'accepter les postes de directeur adjoint aux Services administratifs et de bibliothécaire en chef adjoint aux bibliothèques aux universités du Manitoba et de Toronto respectivement.Puis, il a été nommé successivement directeur de la bibliothèque de l'Université Laurentienne et de l'Université Concordia.M.Bonin a ensuite obtenu son doctorat de l'Université de Toronto en administration de l'enseignement supérieur et il a enseigné à l'Université Concordia.Il était professeur à l'Université Laval quand il a été recruté par la firme d'experts conseils KPMG pour le Service de gestion des connaissances.

    Dr. Kenneth-Roy Bonin was recently announced as the director of the School of Information Studies which the Faculty of Arts intends to establish by September, 2008. Active in both private and public sector projects, Dr. Bonin's research interests are in the areas of organizational administration, curriculum evaluation, public finance, and legislative compliance issues.He has been recognized for his contributions to innumerable university, professional and community groups and committees, notably with an honorary life membership by the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education.He is a current member of the Board of Governors of Heritage College and the Board of Directors of the Dominican University College.Dr. Bonin completed an Honours degree in Arts and a Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba, and began his career as a teacher-librarian.Following a graduate degree in History from the University of Alberta and a Master of Science in library science from Drexel University in Philadelphia, he worked at the Winnipeg Public Library.Appointments as Assistant Director (Administrative Services) with the University of Manitoba Libraries and Associate University Librarian at the University of Toronto preceded his terms as Director of the Laurentian University Library and of the libraries at Concordia University.Upon obtaining a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Toronto, Dr. Bonin also taught in the Faculty of Commerce and Administration at Concordia, and was teaching at the Université Laval when he was recruited to join the Knowledge Management Practice of KPMG Consulting.That relationship continued with the Ottawa partners who founded the Kelly Sears Consulting Group, even as he fulfilled a five-year mandate as President of the University of Sudbury and subsequently assumed the responsibilities of Research Director for the Canadian Association of University Business Officers.
