"We are trying to aggregate content and information for our users to allow them to spend less time searching for information and more time analyzing or applying it to their prospective areas," said BioWizard, Inc. chairman Jeff Boily.
The site was founded in 2005 by four doctorate and medical students at the University of Pennsylvania frustrated with the time it took to find pertinent research. They raised funds from friends and family and launched BioWizard in 2005 to make global biomedical research information easily accessible and to provide a forum for scientists to post, comment and discuss posted articles.
Philadelphia-based BioWizard, Inc., the creator of the site, secured its first round of funding of $675,000 last week from MentorTech Ventures to focus on marketing and product development.
American Venture interviewed Jeff Boily, Chairman of BioWizard to find out how scientists might collaborate on the site and how scientific research fits into social networking.
