I served in the United States Army as an Airborne, Ranger infantry officer and General's Aide in Alaska and Colorado Springs, before resigning his commission as a Captain in 1990. From there I went on to market chemicals and dyes to various industries for two Fortune 200 companies settling into Houston, where I later attended South Texas College of Law.
I spent almost two years in a small intellectual property law firm, before opening my own firm focused on helping clients create intellectual assets. Shortly thereafter, FMC Technologies approached me to go in-house to teach my approach to their various businesses located world wide. After implementing a new asset management system, I left and joined the large, full-service, international law firm, handling US and international patent and trademark work. I am currently the lead Intellectual Property counsel for an international manufacturer of semiconductor fabricating equipment, based in Montana, who in 2009 was acquired by Applied Materials.
I am very strong in basic sciences and have the uncommon ability to translate complex concepts between technicians and business persons. Additionally, my past in Fortune 200 business management gives me a perspective rarely found in legal counsels, which has proven invaluable in my role of counseling business managers on how to manage and employ intellectual property as they would any other asset – by return on investment.
I have been able to substantially impact the businesses I have work for in the past and strive to similarly contribute to the success of my current and future clients.
