Juliet Boccone, a supervising deputy district attorney with the Tulare County District Attorney's Office, and Gary Paden, a veteran criminal lawyer in Visalia, were appointed members of Tulare County Superior Court on Thursday by Gov.

"When I got the call, it just sort of hit me," said Boccone, 46, of Woodlake.
Boccone had wondered off and on for the past six months if she would get the job, she said.
"I was hopeful and anxious," she said.

Boccone, who on Thursday wasn't sure when she'll be sworn in, said she's also excited to serve as judge.Also a Republican, she'll fill Silveira's spot.
"It was something I thought I could do well, and I'm happy the governor agreed with me," she said.
Before beginning work for the Tulare County District Attorney's Office in 1991, Boccone was an attorney in private practice, handling mostly personal injury, family and general practice cases.She also taught a paralegal class at Phillips Junior College and was an associate in the law office of Demetrious Eugenios.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Peninsula University and a law degree from Peninsula University School of Law.
Boccone said she will become the third woman to currently serve as a Tulare County superior court judge.
