Jane Blount
Jane Blount (Lower Left co-founder) is a performer, teacher, choreographer, co-director of Lower Left and somatic practitioner who is dedicated to the cultivation of community through contemporary and postmodern dance forms.Since moving to San Diego in 1994, she has danced with Lower Left, Isaacs McCaleb and Dancers, Malashock Dance & Company, San Diego Dance Theatre, McCaleb Dance, and independent choreographers Cate Bell and Debi Toth.Blount has received two San Diego Dance Alliance "Tommy" Awards for her outstanding performances with McCaleb Dance and Lower Left.Prior to moving to San Diego, Blount danced with Elisa Monte and Monica Levy in NYC, toured nationally as a member of Danny Buraczeski JazzDance, was guest artist, teacher and choreographer at Winona State University, a member of Contemporary Dance Theatre in Cincinnati, Ohio, and danced with the Cincinnati Opera.

Blount brings an exquisite attention to detail to her teaching, informed by her studies in the Alexander Technique, BodyMind Centering, Ideokinesis, Qi Gong, Vipassana meditation, Authentic Movement, the Bartenieff fundamentals, and her background in therapeutic massage and bodywork.

Blount holds an H.H.P. in integrative somatic methods, and has maintained a private therapeutic bodywork practice specializing in deep tissue, circulatory and somato-emotional integrative bodywork since 1988.
