According to gm Elliott Block, WBQC partnered with Cincinnati Bell's ZoomTown broadband service and CoolCast media service to stream all local television broadcasts and commercials to ZoomTown's 45,000 subscribers July 9.Thus residents once deprived of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Roswell because of Time Warner Cable's refusal to carry the low-power station can see this and more in real time on their personal computers.Block said the station plans to work out the kinks before pursuing advertising opportunities, but expects the venture to increase the station's distribution.
Many Cincinnati outlets were involved in Clear Channel radio's sale of the century.Infinity bought one station, WUBE-FM.As one of the market's only two Country formats, the station was once third in shares with a 7.4 AQH share overall. Now the outlet remains third in revenue ($14.7 million) but shares have dropped to 4.6.
Blue Chip Broadcasting bought WUBE-AM to go with its Urban-formatted WIZF-FM.But with Radio One's purchase of Blue Chip in February, the fifth-ranked, 5.6-share station went to minority-owned group Radio One, the nation's primary company targeting African-American and urban audiences.
