Karen Hoffman Blizzard is a native Austinite, outdoor enthusiast, Barton Springs swimmer, writer and musician who currently serves as Publications Manager for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.    Karen Blizzard - Secretary Karen is Publications and Graphics Coordinator at the Texas Lottery Commission, where she leads strategic planning and coordinates the development of agency print and Web publications. She has worked as a writer/editor for UT Austin's Charles A. Dana Center, Holt, Rinehart & Winston, Inc., American Way, and Harper's Magazine. Karen holds a B.A. in the Plan II Liberal Arts Program and an M.M. in Ethnomusicology from UT Austin. In the 1990s she directed the UT Brazilian Ensemble and co-founded the Brazilian carnival association, The Purple Martins. In the 1980s she performed as a classical vocalist with New York City chamber groups and, prior to that, managed the Austin Choral Union. Karen is a native Austinite and regular swimmer at Barton Springs, and spoke at the all-night hearing against the Barton Creek PUD.
