   April 23, 2002 - Mr. Anthony Bliss joined Pocono Medical Center on April 15 as Vice President of Professional Services.
   
   Mr. Bliss comes to Pocono Medical Center after serving as Senior Vice President of Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, New Jersey.While at Trinitas, Bliss was responsible for all professional and general service departments in addition to a $29 million expansion and renovation project.He also developed the business plan for a major hospital consolidation, and negotiated a model program for provision of women's reproductive health services.
   
   Prior to his employment at Trinitas Hospital, Mr. Bliss was Senior Vice President of the Elizabeth General Medical Center and was a key member of the committee that developed the medical center's strategic plan.He implemented programs there that provided cost savings and increased service volume.
   
   "Tony will be a valuable addition to our team," reports Gene Leblond, FACHE PMC's President and CEO.

   As Vice President of Professional Services, Mr.Bliss will oversee departments including the laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, rehab services, plant services, safety/security, and food services.
   
   Mr. Bliss has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Villanova University and a Master's in Hospital and Health Administration from Xavier University.He is a board certified healthcare executive and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

   Anthony Bliss, FACHE, Vice President for Professional Services, PHS, then took the stand to discuss PMC's expansion and renovation program.Mr. Bliss told the audience how the rapid population growth in PMC's service area meant an increased demand for quality healthcare and the need for the $53 million construction and renovation project.He highlighted the following projects: in August of 2004, PMC broke ground on our new four-story wing, which will be an addition of 101,000 square feet that will open its doors to the public in 2006; a new entrance to the hospital's visitor lot was created to improve traffic flow; in May, the new Ultrasound Department in Radiology opened at PMC, which features an expanded imaging facility and the addition of a fourth ultrasound unit to optimize patient scheduling; this summer, a new Radiology Outpatient Registration Area opened for patients; a new Admitting & Registration & Phlebotomy/EKG Center opened in September of 2004; in November 2004, PMC opened its Same Day Surgery and Outpatient Services Department, which increased our capacity from 11 to 16 patients seen at any one time; and a Dialysis Unit opened last December as did a new MRI Center, which features a new Toshiba 1.5 tesla MRI with the ability to perform a wide range of new clinical exams.
   
   Following the report from Mr. Bliss, Jonathan Goldner, D.O., FACCP, Chair of the Critical Care Committee at PMC, then discussed the future ESSA Cardiovascular Institute, which will open in 2006.
